James Miller's Clever Direct 8mm to Canon 5D Mark II Method

I have thousands of feet of old Super 8mm movies in storage. At roughly 30 cents a foot to convert to video - and with questionable quality at that - that's an expensive proposition.

Then comes along James Miller who developed such a clever approach to doing direct film transfer using an inexpensive LED light strip, and old Eumig projector, a modified projection lens (to flatten the image) and his Canon 5D Mark II. Granted it isn't for the faint of heart! In the video above by James Miller, he shows step by step the modifications and techniques he used.

His results are stunning.

I think I'll pull out my old Elmo projector and do something similar.

Thanks for the inspiration, James!
